Dean of the Academy

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN OF THE ACADEMY

Professor Mohamed Abdel Wahab

It gives me great pleasure to serve as the first Dean of the African Arbitration Academy. The Academy’s first annual training was held in London between 3 – 21 June 2019, and it was a great success. The invited faculty are world-class renowned academics and practitioners in international arbitration and international law. The Academy is a great investment in the future of Africa, and it was established to meet the increasing demand for qualified African practitioners.

The year 2019, marked the birth of the first academy training as a colossal initiative, and it promises to remain as prestigious, selective, competitive and rewarding as it started. We are determined to continue to deliver top quality teaching and practice-oriented trainings aimed at building African capacity and developing the practice of international arbitration on the African Continent and beyond.

The Academy is destined to cater for dire need to develop international arbitration in Africa and to align the Continent with best practices in international arbitration. It offers a remarkable opportunity for talented African practitioners to interact and exchange ideas, practices and know-how with notable practitioners from across the globe, with the aim of showcasing African talent and building a global network of qualified and diverse practitioners.

The Academy intends to serve as a beacon of hope for the development of Africa’s forthcoming generations of leading arbitration practitioners
